Dances Highlight October

OCEAN CITY — A big band dance, parade, halfmarathon and other entertainment have been scheduled as part of Ocean City’s annual “October’s Twice As Nice Celebration.” Two dances will be held, a “Happy Hoofers” special Oct. 15 and a Big Band extra vganza, Oct. 29. The Hoofers, a ballroom dance group, will feature music by the “Ambers” combo. Both dances will be held at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Tr. The Big Band Dance Oct. 29 will feature Dick Anthony’s Orchestra with Bill BruesUe and The Sunshine Boys, a banjo band, playing during breaks. William Sackett will emcee and be featured vocalist. APPROXIMATELY 1,000 runners are expected at the resort’s Ninth Annual Fenton Carey HalfMarathon and Sixth Women’s 5000 Meter Boardwalk Run, Oct. 22. The Women's event begins 9 a.m. at the Music Pier with the Half-Marathon, open to both men and women, set to begin 10 a.m. Contestants compete in various age groups with medals awarded to first three finishers in each category. The Band Boosters Antique and Crafts show is set for Saturday, followed by Ocean City High School’s show, Oct. 29. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The city’s 36th annual Halloween Parade, sponsored by the Exchange Club, will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. Bands, costumed marchers and floats are included. Spectators will be given an opportunity to guess the inden tity of the “Mystery Marcher,” a prominent area citizen who walks the route in disguise. DUO PIAMSW, Jeffry and Ronald Marlowe perform at the Music Pier, 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, as part of the fall “Friends of Music” series. The city opened October with an Indian Summer Weekend which featured a block party and seafood festival. Debate Set S. VINELAND - WMVB will be carrying a debate, between Assembly candidates Guy Muziani and Jeanne Gorman. Wednesday, Nov. 2, It will conclude a set of three debates, including. Friday, Oct. 21, Joseph Chinicci and Edward , Salmon. Assembly candidates; Friday, Oct. 28, James Hurley and Christopher Riley. All debates will be held live in the WMVB studios, and will be hosted by news director Susan Roberts.
