Dining Guide THE COLORS of October are abundant this week as we look out the window and see our changing landscape. It’s a great time of year for taking drives to see the vibrant colors. No, there isn’t as much..Sunshine each day now as there was in June or July. And the days are growing steadily cooler, not soon enough for many people who had it with last summer’s unrelenting heat. We’ll probably be getting some heavy frosts very soon. Crickets are still singing in the weed patches while the sun shines, but there is no longer to be heard the insert chorus all through the night as we heard it in August. It’s stiil a little early to remind you that Daylight Saving Time comes to an end October 29. Standard Time goes into effect Sunday, October 30, the last Sunday of October. While initially Standard Time makes the mornings a little brighter, it shuts off the daylight somewhat earlier — which many folks say they don’t much like at all. This coming Sunday, the sun enters the sign of Scorpio, the Scorpion, and moves in this sign of the zodiac until November 22. ••• If you’re a birthday enthusiast, we thought we’d tell you today is the birthday of John Adam, born 1735. He was considered one of the greatest of this country’s founding fathers. He helped write the Declaration of Independence and was the first Vice-President of the United States, and its second President. ••• \ Now, here’s news about our local good eating: CAPT’N ARAB’S — everything fresh. Capt’N Ahab’s, on Route 47 (Wildwood Blvd ), between Rt. 9 & Garden State Parkway, Rio Grande, serves everything fresh, including fresh fish, seafood and an assemblage of the freshest vegetables. The prime rib, succulent steaks, tender veal, chicken and Italian vegetables, all for wonderfully reasonable prices. There is a daily special for $6.95 that is always a popular selection. Open Friday-Saturday from 5 to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday-Thursday from 5 to 8:30 p.m., we always enjoy the hospitality of Frank & Jane Bonner, who greet guests with warm friendliness. WINDRIFT for relaxing. The Windrift Restaurant & Lounge final weekend is the coming one, so suggest you mosey on over to Avalon, at 80th & Beach, to enjoy seashore dining at its finest. Recommended is the prime rib ($12.95), sauteed crabmeat ($10.50) and Lobster Tail ($15.95). Fried (Page 30 Please)
