Cape May Prepares Parade CAPE MAY - Participants in the Oct. 30 Halloween Parade now include the city’s fire department, rescue squad, the West Cape May Fire Co., the MAC trolley and special guests Captain Kidd; Harry Proud, “The 3-Legged Clown," and it’s rumored that the "Great Pumpkin" will rise from the pumpkin patch early to join the festivities. The parade, part of a joint effort of the city, its Chamber of Commerce and the Mid-Atlantic Center (MAC), is open to costumed area children up to 12 years of age. Children wanting to join the fun should meet to register at the bandstand in the Hotary Park at 2 p.m. The parade will proceed through the mall, Washington Street and wind up at the Physick Estate where costume judging will take place. Besides parade participants divided into three age groups. 0-6, 6-9 and 10-12 years) there will be two additional costume judging groups, 13-17 and 18-100. Prizes will be awarded in all catagories. Judging for all will take place at 4:30 p.m. A party for all will take place at the same time and the “Deadly Dungeon” will open for ages 0-11 at 5 p.m. (and for everyone else at 7:30 p.m.) Volunteers are needed for the parade or the party; contact the Department of Civic Affairs (884-8411).
