Promotion Award to Catanoso

CAPE MAY - The New Jersey Travel and Resort Association and the New Jersey Outdoors Writers Association joined at a meeting at the Lobster House here to pay tribute to Freeholder Director Anthony T. Catanoso of North Wildwood, who was named to receive the annual "Old Salt" award from the two associations.

The award was presented to Catanoso by Barbara Muller of Renault Winery, Egg Harbor, who is president of NJTRA, and by Herb Blackwell, outdoor columnist for the TrenIonian in Trenton. outstanding job in promoting New Jersey fishing ^ outside New Jersey. CATANOSO. WHO has headed the Cape May County Department of Public Affairs in his 20 year tenure as a freeholder, has been instrumental in expanding county Fishing contests from a summer event to year around. He also served as honorary chairman of the County Marlin Tournament and was instrumental in creating writer visits to Cape May County which, in turn, generated large amounts of publicity fgr the fishing along the Jersey Cape shore. The New Jersey Travel

and Resort Association presented Catanoso with an inscribed plaque and the New Jersey Outdoor Writers presented him with a fishing rod and reel. The county fishing contest has been part of a broad promotional effort on the part of the county’s Department of Public Affairs aimed at expanding the tourist season in the County by attracting additional tourists in the offseason. Under Catanoso’s direction, the county department of Public Affairs annually hosts outdoor and travel writers from the Middle Atlantic States and Canada.
