among the 50 percent there who die before the age of 5. The $5,500 contributed by the Mission Fund of the Crest Community Church will, says International Christian Aid, make a perceptible dent in the child mortality resulting from famine conditions. In a letter read by Rev. Charles L. Rowe, pastor, at services Sunday, Oct. 16, the ICA expressed gratitude for the donation, pointing out that a gift of such size from a single church is unusual. The project got underway two months ago when Dennis Hall, chairman of the Mission Fund, read an article in a news magazine detailing the deadly famine in Black Africa resulting from a prolonged drought the second in a decade. Envelopes for a special collection were distributed Sunday, Sept. 4, and eventually, $5,500 was raised from members and friends
of the church.
