Cookie Sale Tomorrow

WOODSTOWN - When the Girl Scouts from Holly Shores Girl Scout Council begin their cookie sale tomorrow, it will mark the 50th anniversary of this American tradition. The idea for the cookie sale was born back in the twenties when individual troops held cookie sales as fundraisers to support their activities. The first sale of commercially-baked cookies was held 50 years ago. The first Girl Scout Cookie was a vanilla shortbread, baked in the shape of the Girl Scout insignia, the trefoil.
