Free Butter, Cheese Giveaway Starts Fri.

RIO GRANDE - Cape May County’s third free federal surplus commodities distribution of the year will takeplace Friday through Nov. 4..' About 36,000 pounds of butter and 36,000 pounds of cheese will be available to eligible needy recipients at six sitet Families will receive a fhinimum of five pounds of cheese and up to, five pounds of butter. Several changes have been made from the system used to distribute in April and June. Notification is being mailed to some 6,000 families that received surplus food earlier this year. The $600 cost of that mailing will be reimbursed by the state, according to Marvin Morrell, Jr, county Welfare Department supervisor. A separate day and site

for Welfare recipients has been eliminated. Any eligible person can go to any site, Morrell said. Finally, a new site, the Villas. Recreation Complex on Bayshore Road, was added after a study indicated most persons coming to the Rio Grande Fire HaLLwereLower Township residents. Only one person per household should apply; and should bring a form of identification plus proof of income eligibility. I.D. cards will do for persons receiving Welfare, food stamps or pharmaceutical assistance. Others should bring pay stubs or other proof of income. The maximum monthly gross income runs from $722 for an individual to $2,621 for a family of nine. Family of 2, $959 ; 3, $1,197; 4, $1,434 ; 5, $1,671;. 6, $1,908; 7, $2,146; 8, $2,383.

Demolition OK Sought

AVALON — The zoning board of adjustment, at its meeting Thursday, Nov. 3, at Borough Hall, will continue bearing on an application to permit demolition of five residential units in three buildings and replace them with five units in one building at 55 W. 32nd St. Also to be heard is an application by Lawrence O’Connor for two curb cuts at 225 24th St. The board is expected to take action on both applications.

Task Force On Drunk Driving

COURT HOUSE - The first meeting of a newly formed County Task Force on Drugs and Drunk Driving will be^ held 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the conference room at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. Jim Plousis, a police officer in the traffic enforce-' ment and accident investigation unit of the Ocean City Police Department, is coordinator for the force. Plousis and Prosecutor John Corino are combining in the effort to bring together all the talent and services existing in the county with the goal of stopping drunk driving.

TOWN WATCH CAPE MAY — The city’s Town Watch members Will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, in City Hall, Washington Street.
