Weather bureau records show that Cape May County is one of the windiest spots on earth — yes, even more so than Chicago! It wasn’t as noticeable as usual this past summer, but in the past spawned these tall tales! Some days the wind blows so hard that when you stick your fingers out the door, the wind rolls up the skin of your fingers. Other days potatoes are blown out of the ground. • • • Group Westinghouse Cable is adding a new facade as part of its face lifting of its headquarters center island. Now if they could only do the same thing for the programming! • • • You know the season's over when those long, long new claims lines wind around the unemployment office. Or when a fisherman calls up a party boat to ask: “What time are you leaving?” and the captain replies: “Well, what time can you get here?” Some years ago, Gladys Cassell of nearby Millville decided to wed a struggling young actor named Edward G. Robinson. In those days, everyone thought show busiaass not respectable and trashy. Her indigent parents disowned her for this reason and also because Robinson was Jewish. They were proven wrong on all counts as Robinson became one of the most respectable actors and amassed a fortune in rare paintings! Would

Another landmarkseamark is going by the boards. It isn’t due to the economy, but for retirement reasons. After 33 years, William Smith has closed the doors forever on Snuffy’s Crest Luncheonette. In more than three decades there were many highlights. However, none topped the visit of Eric Heiden, Olympic speed-skating gold medalist. Heiden was in the resort twice for the Pan American bicycle races. Mrs.Irv •Ginny” Posternock assisted Katherine Cramer with the races promotion. Among her pleasant tasks was chaperoning the Stamford University Olympian, Heiden. When he professed a craving for burgers and a milkshake, Mrs. Posternock took him to Snuffy’s, fulfilling a request of the restaurant owner. Rumor hath a children's wear (rag trade) shop taking over the location.

Becky York, one of the original stars of “A Chorus Line", has been back East for the celebration of the show as Broadway’s longest running box office champion. The young star also played Roby Keeler on TV. Her big moment came in the roof-raising finale when she led 330 dancers on

stage to mark the historic event. As usual, Becky used part of her time back East to join her long time Anglesea-Broadway pal, Lori Cesar (Mrs.Grover Bradshaw) for an offseason vacation. Becky was thrilled to learn that Lori is “infanticipating" (as Wincbell used to say) in the spring. Becky, who is Ford’s "Mustang Sally" on TV commercials, is being considered for the movie production of "Chorus Line ”. Others connected with the film project include Mikhail Baryshnikov and John Travolta.
