Hughes’ Office Schedule
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Bill Hughes (D-NJ) has announced the schedule for district office hours in Atlantic and Cape May Counties through tomorrow. Office hours will be conducted by staff assistant, John Keeley. As part of his effort to stay in close touch with the needs and views of the residents of South Jersey, Hughes has scheduled the office hours at several locations to provide maximum access for residents. Hughes said the district office sessions are now being scheduled indoors at local Renovated Hall to Open AVALON-The first faU event for adults in the renovated Community Hall will be the annual Harvest Ball, 9 p.m.-midnight Nov. 19. Music will be furnished by the Russ Patrick Orchestra. The hall has been undergoing refurbishing for several weeks. Biggest part of the project has been refinishing the floors, which are used for basketball, dancing, meetings, stage performances, and various o'ther athletic events. Other work, according to Dave Haberle, recreation director, includes interior painting, a new ceiling, and new lighting. New stage curtains also will be installed to make the stage more serviceable. nje regular fall recreation schedule will begin as soon as the improvements have been completed.

Christmas Ball Early
CAPE MAY - The city will sponsor a Christmas Ball 8:30 p.m.- midnight Sunday, Dec. 10, at Convention Hall, it wifi be a B.Y.O.B. affair with light refreshments, set-ups and ice provided; as well as a chance to win one of several door prizes. A1 Raymond’s six-piece orchestra will play a wide variety of songs suitable for dancing. Couples and singles are welcome as dance numbers to accommodate all will be offered. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Department of Affairs office, Convention Hall 884-8411, ext. 20 or 27. Tables may be reserved by purchasing a block of eight tickets in advance.
Shore Bond Vote Urged
AVALON - The members of the Avalon Home and Land Owners Association are being urged to vote “yes” for the 550-million beach protection bond on the Nov. 8th ballot. President Thomas J. McKittrick states in a letter to the membership. “We urge you to vote ‘yes’ for this bond issue. And, we urge you to persuade your friends who are residents of New Jersey to also vote for this issue. Included in this issue are plans to spend $5 to 510 million to refurbish the beaches of the Seven Mile Beach ravished by this past winter’s storms. "This issue is important not only to residents along the coast and bay areas, but to all New Jersey residents. Improved beach conditions will attract millions of visitors to the recreation areas and thereby improve the economy of the entire state.”
