Recreation Slate Set

AVALON - Dave Haberle, recreation director, has announced the following schedule of activities for fall, including special events: Monday: 9-10, Slimnastics; 9-12, Tot Shop; 1-3, Square Dance Lessons 3:30-5:30, Ballet Lessons 7- 8, Free Activity, Grades 5th-8th, 8-10:30, Adult Basketball. Tuesday: 10-2, Open Gym; 3-6, Gems Basketball; 7-8, Free Activity, up to 4th Grade; 8-9:30, Free Activity, Grades 5th-12th; 9:30- 1 0: 30, Adult Basketball. Wednesday: 9-10, Slimnastics; 9-12, Tot Shop; 12-3, Bowling League—Wildwood; 3-7, Gems Basketball; 7:30-9:30, Square Dance Lessons ; 7 : 30-10, Volleyball. Thursday: 10-1, Open Gym; 1-3, Line Dance Lessons; 3-6, Gems Basketball ; 6:30-7:30, Free Activity, up to grade 4; 7:30-8:30, Free Activity, Grade 5-8; 8:30-9:30, Free Activity, Grade 9-12; 9:30-10:30, Adult Basketball. Friday: 9-10, Slimnastics; 9-12, Tot Shop; 3-7, Gems Basketball; 7-8, Free Activity up to 4th Grade; 8- 9, Free Activity, Grades 5-8; 9-10, Free Activity, Grades 9-12. In The Swim

CAPE MAY — The swim team begins practice 7 p.m. Friday at the Elementary School. Youngsters 6 to 17 years interested in competing are urged to register at the Department of Civic Affairs in Convention Hall or call for more information at 884-8411, ext. 20 or 27.

Fast Start In Volleyball CAPE MAY - The first match of the 1983-84 men’s volleyball season pitted Dekelco against the U.S.C.G. Air Station Groupies. In the first game the Groupies' Bart Kolb combined some awesome spikes with Rich Litha’s serving to down Dekelco 15-6. Dekelco bounced back in game two behind the serving of Bob Hanly to win 15-12. The Groupies then combined good court coverage with stiff defense to down Dekelco in the next two games 15-8, 16-14 to take the match 3-1. In the next match Eckel’s Diesel went up against perennial power Breakwater Electric. Game one was a nip and tuck affair which Breakwater eventually pulled out behind the spikes of Chock Howard and digs of Herb Hudson. Breakwater tent serving of Bob Mathews. In the final game Eckel's pulled off a win 15-10 behind the hustle of Tom Eckel and Dave Barrikian.
