Who Really Needs Goblins?
AVALON - The ghosts and goblins were missing at the annua! borough Halloween Party. It was a year for unusual and extraordinary costumes. A couple hundred youngsters turned out with parents .and grandparents along to enjoy the fun provided by the Recreation Department. They came as mice, turtles, flowers, watering cans, robots, lions, elephants, tomatoes, a slice of watermelon and in many other unique costumes. Following the awarding of prizes for costumes, the youngsters enjoyed games, snacks and treats. COSTUME WINNERS were: 3 years and under—Third, Steve and Katie Berg (two mouseketeers, Rebecca Sylvester (a tdmato); Kyle Wanbert (a Viking); Second, Rickey Hennings (elephant); Chris & Angela Jackson (2 lions), and Brian Sylvester (construction worker); First, Terry Corrigan tPoppa Smurf), Joanie and Marcie Spampinato (twin flowers); Most original, Jance Hoy (a turtle), and Stacy
Student Aid Across Sea ERMA — Boys and girls at South Jersey Christian Academy are experiencing how to help a small child in Tanzania. It is in conjunction with World Vision International and their monthly pledge helps 2‘-z-year-old Saitoti, son of a farmer, receive necessities. The program is part of a community development effort to help these areas become selfreliant. / Students have received a picture of Saitoti and contribute during their weekly chapel service. TTus way each child is able to feel part of a worthy on-going assistance.
GOP Women Meet Nov. 15 AVALON - Members of the borough’s Women’s Republican Club voted during its October meeting to change their monthly luncheon from the first to the third Tuesday to avoid holding conflicting sessions with other civic groups. This month, theiWore, the club has scheduled its luncheon, Nov. 15, jit the Whitebrier Inn, 260 20th Street. Menu choices ($6.25) are deviled crab and chicken cordon bleu. Shopping Trip RIO GRANDE - A shopping trip, for the benefit of the County Unit of the American Cancer Society, is planned for Dec. 5, to the Christiana Mall. The bus will leave 5800 New Jersey Ave., Wildwood Crest, at 8 a m and return from Delaware at 6 p.m Reservations can be made by calling Barbara Ann Flacco at 522-7076.

Cups and trophies were awarded to all the winners in all age groups. The Recreation Department is now into its regular fall schedule. Screening At Center COURT HOUSE - Free blood pressure screening and bearing tests will be provided at the open house to be held 1:3<M p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Cape May Care Center. The service will be provided by the nursing staff on the cento-and a licensed audiologist. No appointment is necessary. Those unable to make the blood pressure screening should contact Ruth Kozlek, the social worker, to arrange for an appointment. The center is on Rte. 9, half a mile north of Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital.
