CAPE MAY - Dedication ceremonies for the Victorian Village Plaza Mural project were held Nov. 12 at the mural site, Ocean Street and the Mall. Art league President Charles Bernard officiated with help from mural designer, Cheryl Crews-Lynch, and league resident manager Jude Burkhauser. Bernard presented corsages to the five artists who painted the mural: Cheryl Crews-Lynch, Mary Federici, Barbara Knipple, Shirley Firak and Maryann Cannon. Each women spoke of the joy their involvement in the project gave them and thanked the community for its encouragement and support. Particular thanks was

given to the residents of Victorian Towers, the sixstory senior citizen residence opposite the mural, for providing snacks and photographing the progress of the artists’ work. . Given special thanks by Burkhauser were the mayor and council; civic affairs director Terry Brown; Stewart Grey owner of Model Cleaners on which the Mural is painted; Mr. McGuire of MAB paints in Wildwood who donated the paint, and to Cheryl Crews-Lynch whose dedication, hard work and artistry gave the original idea life. Williams; Mrs. Jean Timmons; Mrs. Henry Vance; Phyliss Caranoso; Herb Bietel; Susan Laird; Anita Currier; Barbara Sulluvan; Sherry Quinn; Charles Bernard ; Bob Cunningham; and Jude Burkhauser. Future plans for the site include a small park. County Freeholder Anthony Catanoso and Avalon Council member Stewart Grey broke ground for the spring planting of flowers and shrubs and the installation of benches that will enhance tfce site. In the absence of Cape May Shade Tree Commission President Harry Lazour, Bernard relayed Lazour’s promise to donate tulip bulbs for the park.
