CAPE MAY - The first Women’s Volleyball League match paired a game but overmatched CView team against league power Kona Women. Kona jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in game one behind the serving of Shirley Ludman. C-View battled back to come within four points at 13-9 before bowing out at 15-10. In the second game Denise Zimmerman took charge early by serving four straight points for Kona. Sue Fitz and Lynn Massimiano played weB for C-View throughout the match, but the offensive firepower of Kona proved too much for the CView as Kona won 15-4. Kona again dominated play in game three as it won going away 15-2. Thunder & Roses was pitted against the Needlers in the second match of the evening. The Needlers stormed out to a 12-0 lead behind the setting and bumping of Debbie Palmer and Marion Lomach. Paige Huber and Arlene Fornabaio played important roles in an unbelievable comeback which saw Thunder & Roses reel off nine unanswered points before bowing out at 15-10. Thunder & Roses turned the tide on the Needlers in game two as they built an insurmountable lead behind the spectacular play of Carmen Soplop and won the game 15-7. The loss was the first of the season Hockey Call CAPE MAY - The City . Youth Hockey Leagues will be conducting tryouts and registrations at Convention Hall 6-8 p.m. Dec. 1 and 8. The final match of the evening featured the Shire against Havin’ Fun. The Shire’s Amy Truman’s aggressive front court play proved to be the difference in game one despite the all around hustle by Havin’ Fun’s June Richard, Dawn Ivey and Bobby Merkel as the Shire won rather handily 15-9. Games 2 and 3 followed much of the same pattern as the opener as Jan Kellaway and Lorraine Holt triggered several offense rallies that kept the Havin’ Fun team con-

stantly off guard.
