Guest speaker at the recent annual membership meeting of the Cape May Branch of the NAACP was Rev. Cass Shaw of the First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Dorothy Mack presided as usual along with Mr. L. Lock of West Cape May. Refreshments were served and as usual it was a lucerative and interesting meeting. • • • The annual Dessert Card Party in private homes sponsored by the ladies of the Episcopal Church of the Advent is Wednesday, Dec. 7, starting at noon. For your table reservation please contact Mrs. K.C. Bennett. Altar and Rosary Society of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church annual Dessert Card ’N’ Bingo Party is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Victorian Towers auditorium, starting at noon. If you’re any prizes you can spare, do call me at 884^1770. Those playing cards are requested to bring their own. Come meet ole friends and make new ones too.

Another Happy Birthday to Diane Smith and to Rita Knight, both of North Cape May. • • • CONGRATULATIONS to new bride, Tobe Orrell of the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts office staff. A wedding shower by the employees was a pleasant surprise for Tobe, who was married Saturday, Nov. 12, to Jon Porter of California. The couple will now make their home in West Cape May. • • • Cape May Women’s Republican Club meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 28th in the headquarters on Congress Street. All are requested to attend to make plans for the future.

Cape May Rescue Squad Auxiliary annual Holiday Cake and Home-Goodies Sale is Saturday, Dec. 3, in Casale’s Shoe Rack. Come early and get your shopping done there are lots of little items for stocking stuffers and some surprises too. Once again there’ll be a food basket drawing with loads of delicious foodstuffs. Remember, it’s for our own Rescue Squad’s neverending need for more and better equipment to service all of us.

Diocesan Pilgrimate Choir Concert held recently at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church was an outstanding event. The audience was spellbound and a standing ovation was an appreciative gesture by all who attended. A recpetion was held afterwards for the Choir. Those graciously working diligently were. Mildred Menz, Marie Momat, Nancy Johnston, Peg Sokol, Rita McTague, Marie Roehrenbeck, Nancy Tronco, Florence Weber, Theresa Banscher. Betty MacMillan, Mary Brolie, Florence Kunz, and Kay Boyle.

Wed 60 Years AVALON — Mr. and Mrs Charles Boettinger of 24th St. will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Dec. 1. The Boettingers have one son, three daughters, 13 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

County Earns $685,000

COURT HOUSE - Philip R. Matalucci, county treasurer, reports the county earned $685,000 on investments of idle funds for the first nine months of 1983. This investment program began in 1973 under the direction of Matalucci and has earned $9,295,040.23 to date.
