Good Neighbor Fund To Help With Heat

BUENA, — At a meeting with social service agencies, Atlantic Electric officials announced that the company will sponsor a Good Neighbor Fund to help needy customers pay their heating bills. The fund will be administered by the Salvation Army, which will receive

all of the money that is contributed, determine eligibility, and select recipients. To get the program underway, Atlantic Electric shareholders have contributed $25,000. But that’s only the beginning. THIS MONTH, customers and employees

Uncle Sam Wants To Refund Money

NEWARK — Among the 1,786 state residents to whom Uncle Sam would like to give back some money are a number with addresses in Cape May County. The Internal Revenue Service would like to hear from these taxpayers, whose $890,722 in refund checks were returned as “undeliverable”. The refunds range from $26,237 to $1. The average is $500. Taxpayers who did not receive their federal tax refunds for 1982 should call the IRS tax information number listed in local phone directories. The checks, which are not available for pickup at local IRS offices, will be reprinted and reissued when claimed by their rightful owners. LISTED AT addresses in Cape May County are: Floyd J. City Offers Heating Aid

SEA ISLE CITY - Charles A. McCann, city loan officer, has announced that assistance with heating bills is available for those needing it through federal funds allocated to the state. Eligibility for the program is based on the total monthly income and number of people in the household. The subsidy may vary from $100 to $985 for any heating season betwee n November and March. All of the money contributed to the fund remains right here in Southern New Jersey, helping people in every community,” he said. Any South Jersey resident who needs assistance paying energy bills is urged to contact the nearest Salvation Army or call the Business Office number listed on their electric bill.
