LAURA AND TIM SENSING
New Congregation Forms in County COURT HOUSE — A new Church of Christ is being established here, largely through the Vineland Church of Christ, which conceived the idea five years ago. The greatest impetus for establishing the congregation in Cape May County came when Jim and Barbara Chapman, both teachers in the Vineland Public School System, moved to Stone Harbor in the fall of 1962. The Chapmans were charter members of the Vineland Church in 1971. They were joined by other members of the church in Cape May County who had been commuting to Vineland or Northfield for services. CHAPMAN AND Dan Cooper, minister of the Vineland church, met with the Webb Chapel Church of Christ in Dallas in June. They were assured that the large, missionminded church would provide most of the financial assistance. After several candidates were considered, Tim Sensing, who had just graduated from Harding Graduate School, Memphis. Term., with the MTh degree, was selected to undertaft the ministry. His wife, Laura, is a registered nurse. As a newlywed couple of only a year, they moved to South Jersey at the end of September. Sensing graduated with a B.A. in Environmental Occupational Safety and Health from Purdue University, where his father is a professor. He completed 23 hours of undergraduate work in Bible at Harding University in Searcy, Ark., then moved to Harding Graduate School, where he finished his MTh degree. SENSING WORKED as an interim campus minister at Purdue University, led small group Bible studies, served as a youth leader, worked with Christian Camps and p’-cached as the pulpit minister the Snoden Circle Church of Christ from January'. 1962. until his move to New Jersey. The Sensings, since Nov. 1, have been meeting Sunday and Wednesday evenings with the nucleus of Christians who are starting the new congregation. They drive to Vineland for Sunday morning worship. The group is now meeting in homes, but is seeking to rent quarters in the Court House area, and it is hoped to hold Sunday morning worship services here within six months.
