through December. The Bridge on the River Kwai is the featured selection Friday. Based on the novel by Pierre Boulle, it stars Alec Guiness as a stubborn British colonel held prisoner during the second World War in Sessue Hawaka’s Japanese prison camp. To maintain his men’s morale, Guiness agrees to build a bridge in the jungle, only to have it blown up by American commandoes. Winner of seven Academy Awards, it was directed by David Lean, 1957. On Dec. 9, the scheduled film is Don Quixote, consisting of four complete ballet excerpts from the acclaimed film version of the Cervantes classic novel, featuring Rudolf Nureyev, Lucette Aldous and the dancers of the Australian BaUet. The Dec. 16 showing is entitled The Greatest Show on Earth, a big, splashy circus movie-with lots of circus acts, plenty of melodrama and a spectacular train wreck. Produced and directed by Cecil B. DeMille, it stars James Stewart, Charlton Heston, Betty Hutton and Cornel Wilde. .. * Bazaar Set VILLAS — The Women of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Washington Avenue and Bayshore Road, will hold a Christmas bazaar at 10 a.m., Dec. 3.
