greatest athletes of all time made a living. Places lilpe Memorial Stadium ^in Baltimore, the Astrodome in Houston and the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Well, I never got the chance, but A 'did play at the Farm Show Building in Harrisburg, Pa. * Some local youngsters will get the shot, at playing the same floor the World Champions play, the beginning of next year. For the second year in a row, the Wildwood High School boys' basketball team will play at the Spectrum. The Warriors will face the St. Augustine Hermits in a preliminary contest prior to' the Sixers-New Jersey Nets game. Last year the Wildwood team posted-a 55-54 win over Sacred Heart on a last second shot. Sounds a lot lot like the Sixers’ games so far this season. This year's tilt is slated for Jan. 6. THIS KIND of game is important for a couple reasons. First of all. it’s great public relations for the Cape May County resort areas, for we all know how many 'hiladelphia folks use our beaches each year.

Another reason will be the show Wildwood can put on to show the Philly area that basketball can be played very well outside city limits. From different reports I have heard so far on the Warrior team, they won’t let us dowp. One more thing. Playing' in a big building is a real thrill, but playing in an empty building the size of the Spectrum can be a disaster! I guess what I’m trying to say is that tickets are on sale for the game and Cape May County would look real good if a lot of people show up. THE INDOOR soccer season got under way over the Thanksgiving holiday at the Jersey Cape Raquet club with Sea Isle City holding off The Celtics in the final of% two-day tournament 8-7. Leading players in the tourney included Pat MacFarlene, Trip Davis and Mike Donovan, all local standouts during the outdoor season. The goaltenders for the championship contest were John Spoltore for the winners and Chris McCurdy for the Celtics.

The Cape May County Park was the scene of the Middle Township Optimists run recently. James Burke won the five-mile event with a 27:46 time. Bill Moreland came in second and James Doran third. Phyllis Dodd was the top female runner with a 38:02 finishing time. Two Cape May County graduates from a year ago have made their college basketball teams. Debbie Snow, of Wildwood High, has a place dh the Davis and Elkins team and Wildwood Catholic graduate Dan Stefankiewicz has secured a spot on the Seton Hall squad as a walk-on. ’ • • • REMARKS: A couple of things have me just a bit upset this week and they have to do with a player who has been made into a god and a coach who

Wayne Gretzky made a few comments about the New Jersey Devils that need to be mentioned. The “Great" Gretzky called the Devils team a "Mickey
Mouse” organization following a 13-4 win by the Edmonton Oilers over the Devils. Gretzky said the Devils would be better off folding then playing the way they were. (Page 31 Please)
