CHRISTMAS is close on our heels. There’s usually a lot of hustle bustle as the last minyte chores get underway. Every minute counts to get everything organized for the

holiday.

Have you picked out the Christmas tree? Of course, many folks nowadays just “pick out the tree” from the box in the altic. The nice thing about the plastic trees are that all you do is take them apart when Christmas is over

and put them back in storage.

But live Christmas trees are another story — beautiful, and fragrant while they’re decorated, come clean up time and the needles are usually everywhere except on the

tree.

Christmas lights put a glow into these chilly winter nights. Nice to look out the windows and see lights on neighbors houses. Up in the sky there’s a great light show going on, earlier and earlier each night. On clear nights now, the moon and larger stars are bright at 5:30, and hour after sunset. And how they sparkle in the cold, clear air of winter! • * • v Christmas shopping is at its peak — that is, for the ladies. Of course, the men have started yet. Tempers may get a little frayed as searchers look for just the right present — and find the stocks have dwindled. The Christmas shopping may perk up the appetite for a special night now. Here’s some suggestions: A GOLD WHALE EVENT. Right now, it’s vacation time at the Gold Whale iclosed Dec. 5 thru December 25 - except for Christmas parties). For banquets, receptions, meetings or seminars at either the Top of the Marq or the Gold Whale, call 884-3431. Both rooms are located in Marquis de Lafayette Inn on the beach, Cape May. njere’s going to be a whale of the special show December 30 when the Cozy Morley Show will be presented at the dinner show and late show. This glittering event is going to be the place to be this holiday season. CaU for reservations. Remember, before the New Year’s festivities begin Skip Kehr will be putting the musical cap on the old year and giving the New Year a big welcome. Special menu for the evening. CAPT’N ARAB’S — holiday specials. The dining is always pleasurable at Capt’N Ahab’s, located on Rt.47 (Wildwood Blvd.) between Rt. 9 & Garden State Parkway, Rio Grande.. Frank & Jane Bonner (The Captain & His Mate) invite you to enjoy a festive meal during the holiday season at their most comfortable restaurant where everything is prepared from scratch. Winter hours are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 5 until 9 p.m. Capt’N Ahab’s features ocean fresh boiled or fried fish, lobster, clams, scallops, oysters, shrimp and crab. The meal includes plenty of land lubber and farmyard choices, including prime nb, succulent steaks, tender veal, chicken and Italian specialties. Highly recommended.

THE PETER SHIELDS — for Christmas parties. The Peter Shields Inn, at 1301 Beach Drive, Cape May is open at noon for luncheon, dinner and cocktails. Guests are treated to spectacular ocean views as well as superb cuisine made by talented chef and his staff. The menu choices are ample and include fresh seafood, steaks and house specialties. A distinctive restaurant in a turn of the century oceanfront mansion, we also recommended The Peter Shields for Christmas parties with a distinctive flair. Call for reservations — 884-7041.
