I MISS THE little letters from loyal Flatfish users headed by such taglines as ‘A Touching Testimonial’ written by a fisherman from Racine, Wis. in long ‘ hand. I miss such intriguing titles as “Fantastic Lake Titicaca of Bolivia” in which a ship’s captain attached to the American Embassy fished the Flatfish in that South American
country.
Why is all of this important? The printed word, which is often neglected in today’s society, is the key to untold Adventures — many of which will live in the eyes and the minds of the readers who can relive vicariously the adventures chronicled -by the writers. Reading can get you to ‘live’ the smashing strikes, the gillplate rattles and the dramatic leaps as giant fish break the surface of the water as they soar skyward in an effort to shake the hook. Sure you can enjoy the adventure, but reading is one way to hone your fishing skills on these cold winter nights. Outdoor magazines, outdoor columns and outdoor books offer craft improvement education as well as adventure. You may pick up only one tip in a night of reading, but it may make a
day for you somewhere down the line. And, as you read, you, too pan send for some of those catalogs which are still being offered for a few pennies, a postage stamp or even for free at times. Reading them may help you to know better how to use the tackle they are selling. You might even be led into buying some, and after making the purchase, and a'fter reading the materials, you may be pleasantly surprised and even catch some fish. It is going to be a long winter before the fishing breaks open again. Work on tackle, loaf around the fire, and if nothing else, turn to the printed word for pleasure, excitement ^ajid education. It will make your fishing and hunting days all the better. Calendar Available ShopRite Supermarkets have introduced their new 1984 ShopRite Recipe Calendar. It is available at all ShopRite stores. The full-color calendar contains a variety of American regional, kitchen-tested recipes, taste-tempting menus, household tips and moneysaving coupons. Included in the calendar are recipes
