FREDA BITTING, president of the Villas Fire Co. Ladies' Auxiliary, reports that auxiliary members will distribute Christmas food baskets to a dozen senior citizens tomorrow. The recipients were selected from a Hst of seniors “really up against" hard tlrftes, the president explained. Each basket contains enough food for a Christmas dinner and one or two additional meals, she added. Raising funds from socials' and casino trips, thfe auxiliary spent more than $400 on the baskets, she noted. Besides that annual project, the president continues, the auxiliary also donates $50 to house fire victims and proposes to increase the donations to $100 in 1984. • • • JAMES DECKER, adjutant for the Lt. Charles “Buddy” Lewis Post 5343, Veterans of Foreign Wars, announced that the post will host a Christmas din-

ner for “needy people and shut-ins” at the post home, 6 Delaware Parkway, Villas, on Christmas afternoon. Turkey with all the trimmings will be served For information, call Decker at 886-1604. The post held a Christmas party for youngsters Saturday. Santa arrived with gifts; ice cream, cake and sodas were served. \ On Friday, VFW affiliates, the Military Order of the Cooties, Pup Tent 32 (Villas Villans),'and its auxiliary and Pup Tent 86 from Cape May distributed toiletries and other gifts to 130 patients at the Crest Haven Nursing Home. The Old Spice products were donated by Shultin Inc. of Wayne, Decker said, extending the post’s thanks for the products. Villas VFW members will hold their New Year’s Eve party at 9 p.m. in the post home. Tickets are $15 a person.

Belated congratulations, Tom. * COMMITTEEMAN Robert Fothergill reported the first sale of township recycled material at last week's meeting. The township sold 20,000 pounds of paper to a Vineland firm, at $l.4l a pound, for a net profit of $282, he said. “So the recycled materials you’re putting out are going to a good cause,’’ he told the audience. THE COMMITTEE’S Dec. 26 meeting has been rescheduled to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 28 because of the official post-Christmas holiday Monday. LOWER homeowners should be putting out their trash one day later during the weeks after Christmas and New Year’s, according to the township Sanitation Department. No trash will be collected on the Mondays following the holidays, advised a department spokesman, so residents should place their trash and recycled material at curbside the day after their regular collection day. CHIEF KEVIN HART of the Lower Township Rescue Squad released its October report last week. The squad, he said, answered 203 calls that month, including nine for heart patients, three for stroke victims, 11 for auto accident victims and one to a structure fire. Crews also answered 91 miscellaneous emergencies, 7l transportation calls and 17 other calls, the chief said.
