And Dorothy McCoy, right, owner with husband. Bill, of Bayshore Variety in North Cape May, donated to the charity the $134 their customers gave in contributions for the Cabbage Patch doll raffle.

Dekelco Wins Over Plumbers

CAPE MAY — Two evenly matched teams hooked up in the initial match of the evening this past week as Keen’s Heating & Plumbing took on Dekelco. Dekelco took a 4-0 lead in game one only to see it evaporate in quick order as Keen’s reeled off 4 straight points to knot the score at 4-4. Dekelco then surged ahead again taking the lead 6-4. Keen’s Don Shifferdecker gave Keen’s the lead again at 11-6 and they went on to win 15-8 as inconsistent serves prevented Dekelco from coming back. There were several lead changes in game two as neither team could take a substantial lead. However, with the score knotted at 11-11 Dekelco finally put its offense together and went on to win 15-13 and even things up in the match at

one game apiece. In game three Dekelco took an early and nearly effortless 9-0 lead as John Baker notched 8 consecutive points with his pinpoint serving'. Keen’s then regained service but could not hold it as its offense sputtered. Dekelco then went on to take a commanding 13-0 lead and Keen’s appeared to be headed for a thrashing. KEEN’S CAME

In the first game Breakwater never gave th Wrecking Crew a chance despite great hustle by the Crew’s Gary Franco and Matt Reidenpach as Breakwater shut the Crew out 15-0. Game two was much of the same as Breakwater again trounced the Wrecking Crew, this time by the score of 15-2. Breakwater’s Bob Matthews played the net exceptionally well throughout the game. In game three the Wrecking Crew put its offense together and managed eight points. It was not enough however, as Breakwater won again, this time by 15-8 as they swept the match. The final match pitted Eckel's Diesel against the U.S.C.G. Groupies. In game one Eckel’s took a comfortable 11-6 lead behind the powerful spikes of Bud Eckel. Eckel's never looked .back as it downed the Groupies 15-7. The Groupies stiffened their defense in game two behind the spectacular diving saves of Ron Hensel and Gary Forrester. Eckel’s offense was too much for them, however, as the Groupies came up short, losing 15-9. In the final game, Ek&el’s used a patient offensive attack to compile a 10-4 lead as it appeared to have the Groupies on the ropes. The Groupies then pulled themselves together and mounted an attack that brought them within two points of Eckel’s at 10-8. „ Eckel’s then shut down the Groupies and went on to win behind the perfect serves of Chuck Howard.
