Sharing the Pride
Dedication Day at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital has a very personal significance for every resident of Cape May County. The celebration marks a turning point in the life of this institution that will provide benefits for us, our children and grandchildren for years to come. This report is a BTMH update. It is a report of progress and an introduction to just a very few .of the people who are helping it happen. Regular growth has characterized this hospital ever since its modest beginnings just a little over 30 years ago. But during the 80’s a new level of achievement has brought our institution to its full maturity. Now we dedicate a new building and what is really a new hospital. Floor plans and summaries of improvements describe our construction accomplishment, but the best way to realize it is to tour. Enter our new East Wing and you will find yourself in a sophisticated modem facility that will compare favorably to any in New Jersey Rooms are spacious arid comfortable. A new critical care unit planned with the help of the nurses and physicians offers privacy and comfort along with state-of-the-art computerized monitoring. A CAT Scanner provides diagnostic space-age technology. A new operating suite is. supplied b*- an efficient processing area that delivers carts of sterile instruments directly to it. Admitting offices, chapel, fountain, and gift shop all are conveniently located near the entrance But the progress extends beyond the new building-backward and forward. In the early 80’s the maternity and pediatric wings of the hospital were completely rebuilt. A new laboratory, kitchen, and employee cafeteria were added to BTMH facilities. Now renovation of all remaining areas of the old buildings will bring the entire hospital to a high standard of efficiency. All outdated patient rooms will be replaced by 1985 and the total number of beds will increase from 171 to 240. - Still the accomplishments are not fully appreciated unless you also realize that with growing facilities and equipment, the size of the medical staff has also grown dramatically offering Ihe benefits of more specialists and greater individual choice of physicians. -J Obviously the progress is more than can be told in one letter or in one report to the community. We hope you will come and see for yourself and share the pride. Share also the knowledge that your hospital is entering a new era of quality care in response to your needs, a mature dynamic institution that is committed to continuing growth for your good health.
