AVALON — The 1983 Avalon Decorated House Contest was a big success this year, according to Dave Haberle, recreation director. Acting as judges were Charles, Patricia, Kevin and Holly Kirner, and Dave, Deb and Danna Haberle. The judges has a hard time pidting out the winners, due to the enthusiasm and Creaitivity shown by all of the entrants. After much consideration prizes were awarded as follows. First Place — The Darrigo’s; Children’s Choice Award — The Salfi's; Spirit of Christmas Award — The Garafolo Sr.’s; Most Creative — The Sylvester’s; Christmas Color Award —_ The Meade’s; Most Traditional — The Fitspatrick's and the Reichard’s; Best Apartment — The Garafolo Jr’s.; Blinkiest Window Award — The Libetti's. Class Added CAPE MAY - The Karate class, included in the city's upcoming winter recreation schedule, will be expanded to include a class for those students who have had previous karate training. The class will be Wednesday and Friday from 7 to 9 •p.m. in the Franklin Street Civic Center. Fee is $28.00 for this 10-week» 40 hour course^ City residents may enroll at a fee of $25.00. TTie city is again offering a diversified recreation program for the winter semester, which began this past Monday. Workshop

CAPE MAY - A TyeDye and Batik Workshop will be held at the County Art League, 1050 Washington St., at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28. A fee will be charged. Local artist Mary Federici of Wildwood will conduct the Workshop. Participants are asked to bring rubber gloves, a smock and canvas stretchers. All other matierials will be provided

by the instructor.

The workshop is limited to 10 people. The group will learn the basics of the tyedye and batik process which uses dyes and wax to create art on cloth. Those interested should register by calling the Art League at 884-8628. The League is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
