How dp' you feel' about those mini ^grands lands on the Boardwalk? Previous commissioners failed to get taxpayer input on these ad shelters placed over benches Made of metal and ■plastic, each side panel is a garish mini-billboard. Although they offer some shelter from sun, wind and rain, some folks object to • commercial messages on \the beach side of -the wooden way^ Ex-solons claim they opposed any casino ads on the minigrandstands. However, last season there was a casino ad every few feet on the Wildwood Boardwalk. You*-can imagine Atlantic City allowing Wildwood ads all along their Boardwalk! But we all know there are . two -sides to evefy story and the new City Council . r invites your views on whether the minigrandslands should be continued jor abolished! One of the few TV offerings receiving wide acceptance is “Mama's Family,” produced by Carol Burnett’s husband, Joe Hamilton. Vicki Lawrence is; starred. Many of the ideas are inspired by the show’s creative consultant, ' Gene Ferret. He has been responbible for many of TV’s foremost comedy shows. He has often visited Wildwood and is a cousin of Mrs. Thomas Daugben, of the Wildwood Highiaculty. ’ Whenever their schedule permits, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Christie spend rest and relaxation time at their Crest Rambler Road manse. Christie is the official photographer for the Meadowlands complex. He has beenofficial photographer for many of the major league basebal* clubs as well. The Christies are close friends of local builder Joe Popper and his wife. Chrisite is one of the highest paid magazine photographers in the
U.SA.
Wildwood Fire Dept, gave a testimonial -dinner at Luigi’s for John D’Amico. He has long been an-island, county and state - pacesetter in fire prevention. He originated the state-accepted idea for mandatory fire/smoke detectors in -buildings, among many other achievements.
Reflecting his expertise in the field, his peers have named Dick Harmon as President of the 200-member South Jersey Public Works Association. The SJPWA covers the nine ' southern counties of the state. Harmon is Wildwood’s Public Works Director. V *' ... . Back from three weeks in the frozen north are A1 and Mae Timer. They visited, their daughters in the suburbs of Albany, N.Y. Dr. Mae Timer is prominent in the New York State Department of Education. Jim Flynn and others returning from vacations in Florida report they are having another chilly winter. But there’s a silver hning - the constant rains of last winter are absent so far.
