•COURT HOUSE - The . Cape May. County Library is* planning several February events to enliven the dreariest of months. The first half of .rtbruary is being devoted to a “Medieval Theme.” - Hus will include a showing Feb. 3 of the animated feature film, Ivanhoe,. adapted, from Sir Walter Scott’s immortal classic. This is a rousing tale of the evil King John who ruled in place of King Richard who. was at the Crusades during the 13th Century. An action packed tale full of knights, damsels, kings and Saxon history, it is suitable for the whole family. . During February the library’ will be hosting a special exhibit provided by the Newark Museum on medieval items. The 1962 version of the Magic Sword will come to the library . screen, starring Basil •Rathbone, Gary Lockwood and Anna Helm. This is a fantasy adventure that follows an evil sorcerer who kidnaps'a princess and takes her to his mysterious castle, where seven diabolic curses protect him from all who would save her. St. George with his magic rapier and six good knights try to’ overcome witches, warlpcks and fantastic
forces to rescue her. SATURDAY, Feb. 11, is the Ounty library’s second Medieval Fair sponsored by the local Society for Creative Anachronism, featuring sword fighting, fencing, brewing, music, dance, storytelling, armormaking, calligraphy, medieval recipes, medieval clothing, and information on the current middle ages. The.' second half of February will focus on "Black History". On Feb. 17, a showing of A Raisin in the Sun, starring Sidney Poitier. This film is con sideredone of the first really noteworthy films of the 1960’s to deal with the black experience. The movie is •based oh Lorraine Hansberry’s award-
winning play and was adapted to film by her. The intensely strong script tells, of the plight of the five members of the Younger family, representing three generations, who have migrated from the South to a three-room apartment on the south side of Chicago. Starting Feb. 15, the Cape Human Services will be providing a special art exhibit entitled Black Women: Achievements Against the Odds, which covers from 1746 U11 1962. The staff has also: scheduled an After-School Special just for the children. On Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. the Main Library will be showing the classic Black' Beauty. The film about the king of the wild

CAPE fldAY - An organizational meeting of the Embroiderers' Guild of America will take place at the County Art League, 1050 Washington St., 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The Embroiderers' Guild is a nationwide organization of needle craft enthusiasist who meet to share their talents, information, and skill about the pasttime of quilt making, embroidery, needle point, crewel and all other fine needle work
ONE OF the many activities of the guild is the chance it gives members to participate in regional and nationwide exhibits. The guild also provides the opportunity for instruction in a particular needle craft by expert teachers. The only requirement for the formation of, a local chapter is that ^t least 25 people show an interest, according to Judy Obergfell, owner of the Victorian Sampler, a needle craft shop on Washington Mall in Cape May. Ms. Obergfell initiated the idea for the chapter and-is working in conjunction wKh Mary Federici, a local artist, and the Art League.
