There aren’t any Wildwoodians. in the Academy and Emmy awards usually, but we are always represented in the .Grammy awards. Greg Fulgmiti. sop of Mr and Mrs. Joe Fulginitt. Rio Grande Avenue, usually receives nominations and has a mantelpiece full of Grammys he has won in

the last few years.

Greg is a top Hollywood sound recording engineer and enhances the performances of all the top song stars. Mffchael Jackson leads the field this time with 12 bids for Grammy gold. The “Grammy” is the highest award given by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. MOST RESORTS would mortgage their souls to be invaded by as large numhers of graduating seniors as visit Wildwood each June. Behind the scenes, the powers-that-be aVe planning to rdll out the red carpet from June 10 to 17 and June 17 to 23 for high school seniors celebrating graduation from high schools in New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania

and New Jersey..

Senior Weeks are by far the largest conventions on the island. City p.r. director Tom Parsons hopes to arrange a concert by Fabian as part of the huge civic welcome to the grads. Also inked in tentatively is a banquet feting, top students from all the schools visiting here from

Wildwood plans a festive Canadian Appreciation Week July 15 to 22. Mayor Earl Ostrander and City, Council plan a vigorous drive to lure Canadian trade. A caravan of'civic minded leaders will visit Canada Feb. 12-15. ‘ Wildwood y-ill take a boxing team to Canada. They will oppose a Canadian team on national

television.

EX-EAGLES star Bill Bergey will have more time for his Ahglesea Liquor Store and Avalon manse. It seems ex-Eagles offensive tackle Stfcn Walters has replaced Bergey on Philly WIPAM's on air-staff as weekend sports reporter. To many ladies, women's liberation is a joke. The Crest's Adele Hunter was not only the first woman bank director in theU.S.A., but still holds that position. She goes to the Media, Pa. area weekly to fulfill that posmy. _ One of the many landmarks on the Boardwalk was Sherman Studio, where "wooden way" photographers would snap your photo as you strolled the 'walk. For many years, a photo of the Fred Waring orchestra was displayed in

the show window. Waring , often appeared just across the promenade in the Plaza ballroom. Waring has just been presented the Congressional Gold Medal by

President Reagan.

Waring and his Pennsylvanians have been offering entertainment longer than any other musical organization - 68 years to be exact. As a choral conductor and music educator, he has also influenced and inspired vocal students of all ages, revolutionizing the art of choral singing in America. *

There are also two new songs and- one, '“Maybelline”, is expected to hit the charts. Why have these priceless records gone unheard all these years? David Von Savage is sparkplugging a'drive 1o bring the Rotary' convert Uon to the Wildwoods. His efforts are meeting with success, as the site selection committee has already expressed interest in the ' island. New Jersey Rotarians would be a welcome addition to the ever-growing local convention slate. The New Jersey League of Plumbers is another new • convention bowing in Wildwood in 1984. Conventions are especially valuable since it’s been found many delegates new to the Wildwods return for all or some of their vacations and weekends. For the first time, more than 2,000 Garden State plumbers will convene here from June 27 to -SO. We could have used all of them during the holiday frozen water pipes epidemic! The Polka Spree, which attracts national attention, returns again in June with scores of polka bands and thousands of dancers. Convention Hall Director Anthony Catanoso is trying lure many new conclaves our way, including New Jerjiey Demolay. Weigh tlifters and muscle builders will converge on the hall in July when Attlis Gym sponsors a body building competition.
