DAILY LUNCHEON

GROUND-HOG DAY coming up. Tomorrow, according to an old legend, the ground-hog. or woodchuck, comes out of hisburrow on this day. If he sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter, and he goes back to sleeR. If he does not see his shadow, he stays up because winter is nearly oyer. We’re hoping he doesn’t see that shadow. ••• February’s a ticky month. It's on the road to spring, but winter has stUl got ahold. Day by day the hours of .light grow longer and sunset’s glory’ lingers in the sky above the beach. February can be contradictory, but each day the calendar chips off a sliver of shrinking winter February is the shortest month of them all, and this year were treated to an extra day. Leap year, you know. 0*0 The hours of daylight are steadily increasing. We’re up to a good ten hours of daylight now and by the end of the month we’ll have increased to well over eleven hours of daylight. These extra minutes of daylight offer us a good reason to be thinking Up. While February 's weather often gets irksome, we advise you not to fret too much'. Think spring — that’s our message for this week One sure way to beat the February blahs is to step our now and then. Here are a couple of wonderful places to go: CARRIAGE LAMP — eat early for less. The Early Bird special at the Carriage Lamp, at 326 Loverdale Avenue is one of the best bargains in the Villas. For just $6.95 nightly you can enjoy a sumptuous meal. There's only one catch — you have to eat early (from 4 till 6 p.m.) But we find it’s well worth going out at an early hour to enjoy the featured dinner. You won’t be disappointed either, believe us, Thursday, nights the Family Night special is featured, a full course meal for just $7.95. Dinner is served daily from 5 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. • * soo PILOT HOUSE — Happy Hour. It’s been a long week and you need some relaxation. Where to go? Our suggestion is the Pilot House, at 142 Decatur Street, on the mall in Cape May. The Happy Hour is from 4 to 6 p.nv Fnday and catches the crowd on the way home Of course, the fireside is so warming that a lot of people simply stay on for a relaxing dinner and to watch T.V. No matter what the hour, the Pilot House offers tasty meals from lunchtime on and iate nighters stop by for snacks to top off the day: The seafood, 'steaks and salad platters are always good choices.

SCRENCI’S reopens tomorrow. Sea Isle City is the home of one. of the best restaurants in the county — Serena's at 6208 Landis Avenue, which -eopens its doors tomorrow. There are special dinners for just $8.95 which include freshly caught fish: seafood and Italian specialties. The pasta is homemade, including"ravioli, bsagna, manicotti and stuffed shells. The salad and garlic bread are traditions at Screnq’s and suit any palate. Aopetizers include antipasto, pimentos and anchovies, mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat and quicken soup with escarole The desserts are unequalled and include carrot cake, cheese . cake, peach melba and an extraordinary, mint parfait.

CRYSTAL ROOM — dinner delight. Come on, get out of the house and enjoy a fabulous dinner at the Crystal Room at the Atlas Motor Inn. Beach Drive near Madison Avenue, Cape May which features a Roman holiday Sundays with a full scale International Buffet from 3 to 9 p.m. Enjoy this superlative feast (everything from soup to nuts) including a deluxe salad bar and dessert bar. Eight hot entrees are included, for only $7.95 per person. Now and Then featuring songs by Bernadette appear in the Crystal Lounge Wednesday thru Saturday from 8p.m. to 1 a.m.

HERALD’S INN — the kitchen stays open. Okay, its late in the evening, and you’re feeling like having a snack and a nightcap before winding down from ~ long day. Where to go? Jack CundifFs Herald’s Inn is just the ticket. Located at Rts. 9 & 47 in Rio Grande' the Herald’s Inn keeps the chef on duty until the wee hours, so you can stop for delicious snacks. Entertainment- Wednesday thru Saturday is provided by "Focus”. Come focus on them. Watch spots on E.S.P.N. & Prism, an engrossing pastime at Herald's Inn.
