Contest Winners Honored

COURT HOUSE - Stephen Gaines and Howard Cole, two student*: at Wildwood High School, were honored Jan. 22, at the Ml. Olive Baptist Church for taking first place awards in the poster and essay contest held by the Martin Luther King Day Freedom Committee. Gaines, a lOth-grade student, won first place in the poster contest for his portrait of King, while' Cole took first place for his essay on the life of King. Both boys received a $50 Freedom account at the Cape May Savings and Loan, one of the supporters of the contest. Another Wildwood student, Ernestine Williams, was second place winner in the poster contest. Kahlil Gunther, a 6th-grade student at Middle Township Elementary School 4, took second place in the essay contest. Both received a $25 savings account in the Cape May Savings and Loan Assemblyman Guy Muziani, R-Cape May. Cumberland, gave special recognition to the four winners and presented the awards.

Trip Slated

COURT HOUSE - A bus trip to New York Saturday, March 31, to see the new Broadway show On Your Toes is being sponsored as a fund-raiser by the county chapter of the American Red Cross. Cost of the trip includes a discounted theatre ticket, transportation and a donation to the chapter. released album, Live At The-Ash Groye (Half Blind, Box 2762-D, Pasadena, CA. 91105) is from a 1967 show, and, while the sound quality suffers a bit, the music doesn’t. Mann dishes out a commendable blend of folk, blues, and traditional tunes showing his depth not only as a musician, but also as a performer. Hopefully , Steve Mann, who has been plagued constantly with illness, will be able to give us more recent recordings in the not-too-distant future.
