There’s good news — a major new. tourist attraction will bow this spring. Nearing completion-in the Carolinas is a spanking new 150-seat Mississippi paddlewheel steamboat replica. It will be used for sightseeing cruises out of Wildwood Yacht Basin and should be an instant success. Ex-North Wildwood policeman Bill Henfey, salty young skipper of the Sea Raider party fishing boat, will captain the exciting new addition to the Jersey shore. His late father, a popular figure in the Crest, was Bill Henfey Sr. The elder Henfey owned a chain of dry cleaning stores at one time. If a liquor license is approved for the craft, it is hoped that it will duplicate an old Southern custom. Paddlewheel skippers used to plant a bed of mint near the paddlewheel. Those who enjoyed a mint julep on a hot summer’s night could be certain the mint was fresh. Although the wheel will actually turn, it will be for Old fashioned ornamental and decorative purposes, as the c£aft will have the latest in safe modern locomotion. We won’t mind if they decide to have a Red Garter type Dixieland jazz band aboard.. THAT VERY FIT gentleman often seen jogging in the lower end of the Crest is colonist Pat Croce. Pat is the physical therapist for the Flyers and is seen now and again on TV in the capacity. He spends every weekend and off-duty rtioment at his Crest home. The family loves the area so well that his son, Joe John Croce, wed Amy Jo Belsore at the Church of the Assumption with a reception at Enrico’s. Another of our famous neighbors is Avalon’s Ron Jaworski. Philly Eagles star. Didyou know Ron has a shop called Nature Tubs in Cherry Hill? He sells hot tubs, saunas and spas. Jaworski’s business slogan

is “Get in hot water with the pros!" It’s a smaU world: When the Crest’s Caroline Doherty made a short flying visit to Florida, the stewardess on her American International flight was Helen Grant, a Wildwood Catholic grad a Her mother is Caroline Elsie Hunter, a Crest resident who was and is the first lady bank director in Americh. Typo gremLINS last week gave her the wrong first name. NANTUCKET in Wildwood? • The ideas are nautical and nice for bringing a touch of Nantucket to Ottens Harbor. Mayor Earl Ostrander and City Council are giving rejuvenation of the harbor as high a priority with their new Economic Commission as the Pacific Avenue Mall, Convention Hall expansion and Boardwalk upgrading projects. Rob Scully is doing his part with installation of a roof sheltering the open patio deck of his Wharf cocktail lounge overlooking the waterways and wetlands. Christ Scully Jr. is building a harbor front manse for leading realtor Glenn Kay. Captain Bou&reau, who sailed many seas as well as culinary pursuits, has decided to throw in the apron and has sold his harborside restaurant. Skip HoHzapfel. a leading North Wildwood builder, will erect an Ottens Harborside condominium development on the Boudreau

trpct.

The waterfront condo community with on-site marina promises a new era for Ottens Harbor. Mayor Ostrander hopes to make the harbor a replica of Baltimore's fabulous new Inner Harbor development. THE CREST'S Pat Wards are back from Chicago, where they visited their daughter Eileen. She is sports public relations director for DePaul University. Eileen’s phone has been jangling off the hook as sports writers inquire about the college's undefeated baafceteers. Since they operate the coast’s most famous collegiate and Irish tavern, Wildwood’s Shamrock, the Wards naturally ^checked out the near campus Chicago Irish bistro.

Kelly's. Their astute doorman, Richard "Rip Van Winkle” Curran, followed his Villanova favorites all the way to Connecticut, where his brother is an executive with an insurance

company.

Lots of folks attended the Bucks County wedding at the Buck Hotel of the Crest’s Bob Wilkinson and Karen Wachter of Hum ting don Valley. Wilkinson is a retired executive of Frankford Arsenal. After a Poconos honeymoon, they will be permanent residents at Bob’s Syracuse Road home.
