CAPE MAY — Two of the Truman of the Shire com woroed’s volleyball bined on several imleague’s weaker teams, C-- pressive offensive seView and Havin' Fun, prov- quences to carry the team

ed that although they may

have dismal records they can still play entertaining and exciting volleyball. In game one the C-View had Havin’ Fun on the rope as Sue Fill led her team to game point at 15-14, but Havin’ Fun tied the game at 15-15. Each team then traded points before Havin’ Fun’s Tami Thomas used pinpoint serving to give her team the victory 18-16. Inyme two Havin' Fun continued to play well as it broke out to an early 7-1 lead. C-View then broke out of its funk and limited Havin' Fun to two more points for game and went on to win 15-9. In the rubber game Hayin’ Fun returned the favor as it won the game 15-7 and match two games to one. The second match of the evening was between the powerful Kona Girls team and C-View. In game one CView took advantage of inconsistent serving on the part of Kona as it came back from an early 6-3 deficit to take an 8-7 lead. CrView then went ahead 11-7 and limited Kona to four points for the remainder of the game as it won 15-11. IN THE SECOND game the wear and tear of haying to play two consecutive matches began to show as C-View looked sluggish throughout. Lisa Marcolonga spurred her team on to a quick 8»2 with her aggressive defense. C-View never recovered as it managed only one more point for the game, and Kona wbn easily, 15-3. Kona took no mercy on the C-View in game three as it took an early 8-1 lead and then coasted to victory 15-1. In a battle of the titans the Shire battled the Needlers in the finale. In game one it looked as if it was going to be a long night for the Needlers as the Shire came out playing very steadily from the outset. Lorraine Holt, Marlene Mediuch and Amy

to an easy 15-3 The Needlers buckled down in the next game as Lou Ann Catanoso and Michelle Bird brought them back from a 14-1 deficit to close to within one point at 13-14. It was all in vain, however, as a beautiful spike by Marlene Mediuch sealed the victory for the Shire 15-13. The Needlers averted the sweep in game three as they battled back from early deficits to notch a 15-13

victory.
