The theme was entitled “to chase the Winter doldrums.” Such were the invitations inscribed for the recent cookout at Devil’s Reach here in Cape May. Leon Stanatis and ladyfriend, Carolyn, hosted the affair, requesting all to bring their “wet suits” to go swimming. (Incidentally, the location was the marina on Yacht Avenue situated at the rear of Texas Market). About 20 guests came all the way from Baltimore, Delaware and Philadelphia to enjoy the delicious cookout of hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken, along with ample liquid refreshments. One brave guest donned his wet suit, along with his cigar, and enjoyed a leisurely swim. Needless to say, everyone had a very entertaining afternoon, and what’s more, while it was the ‘’first” of its kind in this area for this time of the year, all are anxiously looking forward to a repeat performance this time next year. Now along with the winter festivities at the Beach Club, Corinthian Yacht Gub, we now have Jthe "Devil’s Reach” Celebrations. Because so many were so * happy with the casino trip to Harrah’s sponsored by the Altar and Rosary Socie-. ty of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, they’re now scheduling another for Tuesday, March 6. Bus leases 9 a.m. from Ocean Street (across from church) arriving 10 a.m., and leaves Harrah’s 4 p.m., arriving home 5 p.m. For your reservation it’s Bea Lanzi at 884-0645. WE WELCOME home after her recent hospital stay Mrs. Harry Lozour or Emma, as she is known to everyoae. They are now going on their annual Florida trip, and upon their return will resume the beautiful garden they’ve maintained for ever so many years in North Cape May. It was surely delightful to get a telephone call from Cecile Jarvis of Cape May Point. Ceil’s the wife of Commissioner Ed Jarvis, and she’s been on the sick list after a lengthy hospital stay at Burdette-Tomlin, where Ceil has been a volunteer for many, many years. Now all’s almost back to normal insofar as Ceil's health, and so man} wish her continued good wishes. Over the ’phone she sounded terrific. Knowing Ceil’s determination, we’re sure it won't be too long before she's back at Burdette doing her volunteer chores again. • • • In case you haven’t looked at the calendar yet. Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, March 7, which marks the beginning of the Lenten
