Aim: Help For Kids

GREEN CREEK - A project to help children be more self reliant, devised by the Boy Scouts of America and sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Lower Township, is being used in the third grades of all public and private schools in Lower Township. Peter Hausman, Baysea District executive of the Southern New Jersey Council, says the project is built around an activity book called ‘Prepared for Today.” The booklet helps boys and girls learn how to fix meals, handle small emergencies, take care of younger children, and deal with strangers. Scouting introduced the project in response to changing family life styles which have left more children at home alone, Hausman said. Any organization which would like to sponsor the project in its community is asked to contact Hausman at P.O. Box 157, Green Creek 88219 or calling 886-4333.
