Singing Chef in Encore

CAPE MAY — In an area where eating and entertainment go together, singing waiters are not a great novelty. How about a singing chef? That title applies to Mike Santesse, who is now cooking’and vocalizing at the Gold Whale Restaurant and Lounge at the Marquis de Lafayette Inn here. An accomplished chef, Santeese recently returned to the Gold Whale after a year’s illness. He had been at the restaurant, cooking and occasionally performing, for one and a half years before leaving in late 1982. Santesse, who used to perform professionally, said that he does a comb i n a t i o n ‘ ‘ Rocka bi lly/Country/Elvis” show. A resident of North Cape May for the past 10 years, Santesse was formerly chef at the Strathmere Inn and the Clover Inn. He has held chef positions at the Marriott Hotels aqd has taught cooking and baking at the Cape May County Vocational School.
