Cumberland, Osborn poured in 28 of his own as -Wildwood. won the interdivisional matchup 74-56. Once again Schafer roamed the insidefor 27 points to offset a balanced

Cumberland attack.

AgainSf Absegami the Warriors upped their season record to 16-5 with a 79-66 win. Once again it was the combination of Osborn and Shafer, 40 points,

leading the way.

Middle Township knocked Pleasantville out of first place with a 84-83 shocker over the Greyhounds. The key factor in the Panther victory was 22 of 36 foul shooting against a team known for playing a rough brand of basketball. Mark Adams led Middle with 20

points.

EARLIER in the week, Middle had a much easier time with St Joseph, winning 85-67. Adams and Duane Adens paced a balanced Panther attack with a dozen points each. With the two wins last week. Middle upped its record to 12-9. Lower Cape May also used a balance scoring attack . to win three times last week Pat Holden canned 17 in a 92-53 win over Absegami and 14 as Lower crushed Buena 73-49. Holden took scoring honors with 19 against Hammonton but- the hero was Andy Boyt who notched 11. Boyt hit two pressure free throws to send the contest •into overtime as the Capers nipped the Blue Devils 59-58. Lower's record stood at 8-9 following the good

week.

Wildwood Catholic would sooner forget about last week. The Crusaders were trounced twice. The^ first came at the hands Saci«d Heart 54-39 and then St. Augustine 74-43. St. Augustine remained tied with Wildwood for the top spot in the CAL II race with the win as they held W.G. to just three first-quarter

points.

OVER -IS THE CAL I. Ocean City continues to make its presence known as it handed coach Jack Boyd his 2S0th win as head man With the win over Bridgeton, the Raiders climbed to 13 and 6 oh the year. Earlier this season the Bulldogs trounced O.C. by 16 so sweet revenge and a coach's milestone were both wrapped up in one. Four Raiders bit for double figures led by Gene W'atts who hit for 21 markers. Marge Bonnet nailed down 18 points and snared 14 rebounds as the Ocean City girls made short order of Mainland 66-35. Bonnet and O.C. pulled the same number on Bridgeton 77-32. Lisa Crompton backed Bonnet’s 14 points with 13 of her own. Middle Township had a .500 week last week, falling to Holy Spirit and beating St Joseph. In the Holy Spirit contest, the Panthers fell behind early and never made a run, losing 58-43. Shelly Ridgeway and Jennifer Snyder each poured in 24 points against St. Joe as the Panthers walked 82-37. IT WAS VALENTINE’S Day last week and Lydia Valentine made the best of it. In a 54-42 loss to Absegami, Valentine scored 20 to lead the Capers, hitting on 8 of 10 from the line. Valentine used the last seven seconds to become the winning scorer, nailing a 10-foot jumper against Hammohton as Lower pulled off a 38-36 victory. There is no Coleman day, but Audra Coleman had another outstanding week leading the Wildwood Warriors to two wins. Coleman hit for 29 in a 59-43 decision over Buena and later hit for 19 in a 50-35 win at Absegami. Ann Turner hit for 11 in the second victory. Surprise! O.C. Heavyweight Trip Snyder ran his season record to 17-3 with a pin and Kevin Clarke finished the season at 18-2. The Raiders ended the year at 12-4-1. In other action last week, Lower Cape May fell to Oakcrest 31-24 in an interdivisional match. Lower won the heavyweights as usual, but couldn't overcome an early 24-0 Oakcrest lead. Middle Township had to forfeit six matches against Vineland and paid dearly for it, losing 42-19. Only two Clan wrestlers won matches while Middle was

assessed a two point penalty for coach's misconduct. REMARKS; The college basketball season is winding down and it’s time to make some predictions on this year’s expanded money-making tournament. Each team that makes the final four will receive a half-million dollars. So here are my four teams that might make it to the pay-off games. I like North Carolina, Georgetown, Louisville and Kentucky. I like LouisviUe to make it for two reasons. One, the play of Billy Thompson and coach Denny Crum. Crum always has his troops ready this time of year. DePaul was one of the obvious choices until the Blue Demons lost to Dayton last Saturday. The team can't shoot foul shots. Question time: What are the Phillies going to do with Jerry Koosman? Was the U.6. hockey team as bad as everyone said or were they still being compared to the Lake Placid team? Is Cal Ripken worth one-million dollars? Will the Sixers make it to the finals? Did the Flyers bring up Dave Stanley just to win fights? Is the U-S-F-L here already?
