Cemetery Shooting Called Family Plot

COLD SPRING - Luc lie Moss, 57, of Franklin Lakes, wasn’t accidentally shot by a hunter in Cold Spring Cemetery Oct. 22, according to Lower Township Police Det. Frank Majane. Her daughter, Jane Sinclair, 38, hired somebody to kill her mother so Sinclair could inherit Moss’ wealth, the detective explained. Moss was wounded in the leg and underwent surgery during a weeklong hospital stay. Lower police began an intensive five-month investigation after the shooting and concluded the probe last week with help from iawmen of Wildwood Crest and the county prosecutors office. POLICE ARRESTED Alfred Pallanta, 42, of 427 E. Monterey Avenue, Wildwood Crest, Jan. 28 and recovered the .22 caliber gun used to shoot Moss, Majane reported. Pallanta was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon. * Sinclair was arrested Feb. 12 on the Garden State Parkway and charged with

conspiracy to commit criminaf homicide, the detective added. She also resides at 427 E. Monterey Avenue in Wildwood Crest. A search of her property uncovered a large amount of jewelry' that Sinclair reported stolen to an insurance company, noted Majane. Charged with the same crime as Sinclair, John D'Ambrosio, 56, of 534 Marlyn Drive, Rio Grande, was arrested Feb. 13, the detective continued. When police searched D’Ambrosio's property, he surrendered photographs of Moss, photos and a diagram of her home, Majane said. According to Majane, the investigation revealed that Sinclair gave DIAmbrosio “a substantial amount of money" to kill her mother. The trio, Majane concluded. tried several times after the graveyard shooting to murder Moss. Arraigned last week. Pallanta was released on $100,000 bail but Sinclair and D’Ambrosio were being held then in lieu of $100,000 bail each, police confirmed.

Hearing Tonight For Mead, PQA

SWAINTON - The Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority has set a hearing today at 7 p.m. for its solicitor, John Mead, and its consulting engineers, PQA Engineering Co . to show cause why they should be eligible to continue to serve the authority following their indictment by the grand jury. The action came at an emergency session held on Feb. 14. Executive Director George Marinakis reported. He said the consideration will be given to suspending either or both firms in the hearing at the MUA building on Rt. 9 in

Swainton.

Marinakis said the resolution gives PQA an opportunity to come forward with reasons why it should not'be a disservice to the public for the company to continue to perform services or to be eligible to perform services for the CMCMUA, notwithstanding the grand jury

findings.

The authority is in a delicate position, he said, trying to fulfill its obligation to insure public confidence in the MUA while at the same time being sensitive to the rights of the accused to the presumption of innocence, pending review by the courts.
