Dining Guide

TODAY is Leap Year day. If it weren’t for today, February would have ended yesterday which a lot of folks consider long enough for this month o’ the year. Nevertheless.once Febrafory is over with, ir comes March. .In like a lion, out like a lamb, remember? These are days of surprises in weather Here we are all ready for spring, looking for our first robin, and the first blooms of the white maple, the elm, the yellow jasmine crocuses and snowdrops, and we may awaken any day to find a new, clean snow blanket over everything, a sharp, keen wind from the northwest, and the mercury in our thermometers down below the 20 degree mark. We have been watching those noon shadows lately and we know they are getting much shorter than they were in December. This means that the sun is creeping higher and higher in the sky at noon. We also notice that it gets light much earlier in the mornings these days than it did in December, and darkness comes much later in the evening

now

All of this means that we are getting more hours of sunlight each day than we had in December. So a late February or March snow blanket cannot last as long as an equally truck one in December, because of the greater heat from the sun now on every square foot or roof or street or yard surface, during every hour of sunshine. * ••• While we re thinking spring, we thought we’d tell you about some local spots that will put spring into your step: PILOT HOt'SE the good life. Relaxation comes easy as you dine by the fireside at Cape May’s Pilot House, located at 142 Decatur Street, on the Washington Street

mall.

There is a cozy ambiance in the comfy atmosphere of this celebrated spot where seafood, steaks and cocktails are amply provided for a modest cost. Open for lunch, dinner and late snacks every day of the week, there's also an exceedingly pleasant interlude Fridays from 4 to 6 when the Happy Hour prevails. Hors d'oeuvres are included, like the crowd, the service and of course,
