New Study Urged for Highway
WASHINGTON, D C. - Congressman Bill Hughes (D-NJ) has once again called upon the New Jersey Department of Transportaiton to study the feasibility of constructing a new
east-west superhighway,
through South Jersey. In a letter to DOT Commissioner John Sheridan, Hughes said long-range planning is essential to deal with the growing transportation problems in South Jersey, particularly along the highways leading into Atlantic City. “Traffic is already unbearable along our local highways, particularly during the summer weekends,” Hughes wrote. "Knowing that major traffic increases will be forthcoming in our area, I cannot understand why the DOT limited its consideration of this issue strictly to last year's traffic count. I would urge you to reconsider the need for this feasibility study, taking into account the growing traffic demands which are so apparent in our area."

Promoted At Sands
MARMORA-TheSands Hotel and Casino, Atlantic City, has announced the promotion of Jeff Ross of Upper Township to vice president of casino operations. Prior to assuming his new position, Mr. Ross was director of casino operations. In April 1979, Ross came to Atlantic City, where he was employed af Caesar’s Boardwalk Regency as a games manager. He joined Bally’s in 1980 as assistant casino manager and came to the Sands in April, 1983, as executive casino marketing host. A native of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Mr. Ross resides in Marmora with his w-ife Virginia and their two children, Jack, 12 and Danielle, 11.'

Insurance Sriiolarship HIGHLAND PARK - Applications for an educational scholarship of up to $500 for insurance industry employes are now available from the Young Agents Committee of the Independent Insurance Agents of New Jersey (IIA/NJ). For the third year, the Young Agents Committee is taking applications from insurance agency employes who want to develop additional skills in their field. The applicant's employer must be a member of^IA/NJ; the applicant cannot be an agency principal; he or she must have at least two years of insurance business experience and be under the age of 40 as of April 1. The scholarship moneymust be used to pay for one course. The Young Agents Committee will pay for one course and related feooks The scholarship must be used within one year of award, and may involve a course such as the one in the CPCU program, a college course, work toward the AAI designation, or licensing school.
