Lure the Canadians # COURT HOUSE - Cape May Comity officials and some businessmen on a bus package arranged by the county Chamber of Commerce will travel to Montreal April 9-10 for a grand opening of the count’s new Canadian tourism office. Among the things they’ll be celebrating: the state will kick in 55,500 ♦toward the 514,400 annual rent .Louis A. Rodia Jr., assistant director of public affairs, said the county will be making a ‘much stronger effort to lure the Canadians."
Endorsements Pending COURT ROUSE - GOP candidates for county, state and national offices are expected to present their credentials to the county Republican Executive Committee tonight at 8 in the old court house on Main Street, according to party chariman Philip A. Matalucci. So far, two candidate^ are seeking GOP backing in the county sheriff’s race and five candidates want support for two seats on the county Board of Chosen Freeholders. Half-Penny Drop COURT HOUSE - County freeholders adopted a 535.7-million 1984 budget last week that includes a 53.2 million surplus. The budget represents an 8.3 percent over 1983’s budget that carried a 52.4 million surplus. Despite the hike, this year's budget calls for an adjusted county tax decrease of a half cent — mainly because tax ratables rose 6.3 percent (56 billion), offsetting the five
percent (51.2 million) hike in the amount to be raised by taxes this year (525 million).
Pleads Innocent
COURT HOUSE - Wildwood Realtor Roman Osadchuk pleaded innocent to charges that he lied under oath before
^the State Commission of Investigation about his negotiation of the’county Municipal Utilities Authority purchase of a 93-acre sewage treatment plant site here. Osadchuk, former MUA consultant, was indicted Feb. 9 for perjury. Superior Court Judge Philip Gruccio released him on his own recognizance Friday.

School Plans Book Fair CAPE MAY - A book fair will be held March 26-29 at the city Elementary School. iSe fair has been arranged through School Book Fairs Inc. and will feature over 250 paperback books for sale in color-keyed portable bookcases. Book and posters for youngsters, from pre-school to adolescent, as well as familytested cookbooks for parents and teachers will be included. Proceeds will be used to purchase new library materials. The book fair will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. Co-chairpersons of the springtime book fair are Deborah Morrell, librarian/media instructor; Carolyn Taylor, second game teacher; and Libby Forrest Moore, school board member.
