Cape VIC A Members Winners
New Guide To Agencies
COURT HOUSE - The Cape May,County Career Center VIu\ Club brought home Miip/gold from the N.J. Stale Leadership Conference and Skill Olympics sponsored by the state Chapter of Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, March 2 and 3 at the Mercer County Vocational Schools. The career center was represented by 16 students who competed in various trade and leadership contests. The competition, open to vocational students from the. entire state, in-
volved 1,200 students in 45 contests. An individual gold medal was won by Kathy Cramer, a child care assistant student in the occupational suitcase display contest. IN THE LEADERSHIP development contests, individual silver medals were won in the opening and closing ceremony contest. The team consisted of Nancy Jeffries, president; Tammy Lupperger, vicepresident; Linda Merrill, secretary; Kathy Clark, treasurer; Rose Adoranto, reporter; Karen Saraceno,
parliamentarian; and Regina' McDermody, student club advisor. The career center was also represented by Marc Bohan and Willie Boyce in the commercial art contest; Patty Haberman in prepared speech; Dennis Camp and Francine Cacci in the occupational suitcase display contest. Colleen Logue, Lisa Richards and Fayeth Lewis represented the club as voting delegates for the 1984-85 N.J. State VICA officers. VICA is the national
organization for trade, industrial and technical students. Its members number almost 280,000 in local clubs in 49 states and territorial associations, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
WASHINGTON, D C., - Resource, the first guide to major national and local organizations offering aid to elderly and handicapped persons, has been introduced by Sears Merchandise Group. Resource gives names and telephone numbers for 36 national groups and agencies, according to G. Joseph Reddington, Sears vice president of marketing. There also are 20 regionalized editions of the guide listing some 5,000 similar agencies that offer
services locally. In New Jersey, 168 agencies for the elderly and handicapped are listed. Resource, a 13-page insert in Sears Home Care Catalog, is the only guide that lists a wide range of national and state organizations offering aid to the elderly and handicapped. Groups listed cover specific medical conditions, and the topic areas of education, financial aid, mobility and access, housings employment, vocational training, and information and referral.
