5 Winners In Oratory

COURT HOUSE - Winners in the oratorical contest held recently be the Middle Township Optimist Club on the topic “My Responsibility, Involvement” have been announced by the Middle Township Optimist Club. The winners, freshmen at Middle Township High School, where the contest was held Feb. 28, are: Girls: first, Sue Stobbart; second, Rachael Schulz: third; Joann Hines. Boys: first, Ed Webb; second, Robert Dean. The first place winners will compete in the zone competition in the Absecon area May 1. Winners there will go the state finals in Trenton May 19.

Born in Wilmington, Del., he was a resident for the past 12 years. David C. Griffin. 55. of Green Creek, March 18. A resident for the past 16 years, he was a technician for Western-Ratner Exterminators. Florence E. Hartman, 90, of Rio Grande, March 21. Formerly of Marmora, she was a resident for three years. Harry A. Hertel. 78, of Wildwood Crest, March 21. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Wildwood Gables Yacht Gub. Reeda M. Jackson, 90, of Wildwood, March 21. A resident for 40 years, she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary 376. Kathleen F. Kuhn, 63, of Avalon, March 22. Formerly of Newton Square. Pa., she was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church. HUario R. LaFuente, 85, of Villas, March 21. A retired welder, he was a member of the Villas Civic Club. Elvin F. Marshall, 81, of Villas, March 21. Formerly of Irvington, he was a resident for 13 years. Mary E. Merritt, 94, of Marmora, March 24. Bom in Boone, Iowa, she was a local resident for 30 years. James Sandy, 83, of Villas, March 20. Formerly of New York City, he was a member of the Golden Age Gub. Dorothy K. Smith. 68, of Marmora, March 22. Retired, she was formerly a correspondent for The Atlantic Gty Press and a staff writer for the Township Times. Percy Taylor, 94, of Wildwood Crest, March 20.
