Associates back on track with some fine serving and eventually led her team to a well earned come from behind 15-11 victory. Crew Tax Reminder
NEWARK - The Internal Revenue Service has reminded employers that compensation paid for services of certain fishing boat crew members is subject to federal unemployment (FUTA) taxes. From 1981 to 1982, compensation paid to a boat’s crew for catching fish or other aquatic animal life was exempt from FUTA taxes if the compensation was either a share of the boat’s catch or the cash proceeds from selling a share of the catch? Also, the boat’s operating crew had to be normally fewer than 10 individuals. Since the exemption was not extended by legislation, employers should have reported those payments as taxable wages on the 1983 Form 940, Employer’s Annual Federal Unemployment (FUT/f) Tax Return, which was due by Jan. 31. Employers whos^e undeposited 1984 FUTA tax]- 7 is more than $100 duringv any calendar quarter ' should deposit the tax by the last day of the month following that quarter, the IRS added.
