COURT HOUSE - Correctional Officers Steve Russell and Harry Conway of the County Sheriff’s Department recently completed the four week Correctional Officers Training Academy at Trenton. The academy, known as C.O.T.A., trains correctional officers throughout the state for correctional work in state and county prisons. According to Sheriff Beech N. Fox, both officers performed admirably at the academy and will now return to duty of the County Correctional

Center.

RUSSEL HAS been with the sheriff's department one year, is an active member of P.B.A. Local 59, was a past officer in the County Fire Prevention Association, and a past

vce-president of a local fire department. He lives in Villas with his wife Jacqueline and son, Brett. Conway is a two-year Ceteran of the sheriff’s department, saw active duty in Viet Nam as an army sergeant 1st class, served three years with the U.S. Army in Japan where he became a 14th degree Mason in the Tokyo Lodge and also earned the rank of 2nd degree Karate Black Belt. He is an active member of Cape May County F.O.P. Lodge #7. Conway resides in North Cape May with his wife Marie and three children.

SSI Checks Due Early Monthly Supplemental Security Income (SSI) checks which are normally delivered on the first day of the month, will be delivered on March 30 instead, according to Del Brooks, Manager of the Wildwood Social Security

office.

“Benefit checks are mailed early when the usual delivery - date falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday,” Brooks said. “In these instances, the checks are dated and delivered oh the first day before the first of the month that is not a weekend of holiday . ”
