Herald & Lantern 4 April'84

Pupils Tour Newspaper COURT HOUSE - Herald-Lantern reporter Ed Duffy rcecently delighted Ocean Academy students from Kim Hilbronner’s class with a tour of the Herald-Lantern offices and a MacDonald's Press Pirty Duffy had answered inquiring letters from Vernon Wallace and Carmen Hess asking for help with their school newspaper. He visited their classroom and gave them tips on newswriting, getting the facts, and laying out stories. Seeing energetic young people interested - in the newspaper world inspired Duffy to design and publish their March issue. He plans to do the remaining three issues, also. Then he set up the building tour and the press party. Hilbronner's news team met the accountant and the advertising staff. Students eagerly looked on as Duffyexplained the publishing process and how he prepared their paper. Joe Smith said, "A newspaper is a lot of work.” The MacDonald's Press Party, complete with hats, prizes and a cake, highlighted a joyous and informative day. Huddled together in the parking lot, the children let their balloons go. Watching them soar through the air, they shouted, “Thank you, Mr. Duffy!" ..MOVIE. ^.ISTjNGS ciiiMi'iiii
