Contest On For Tulips

CAPE MAY - The Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May invites residents south of the canal to enter their gardens in the Tulip Garden Contest sponsored by the city and the chamber of commerce. Already the leaves of tulip bulbs are poking above ground, and soon gardens throughout Greater Cape May will be ablaze with the bright colors of tulips. The most attractive tulip gardens will be judged April 26 as part of the Third Annual Captain Mey’s Tulip Festival commemorating Cape May’s Dutch heritage. The gardens will be judged by Harry Lozour, planting 4dBirman, and other members of the Tulip Festival Committee. Winning gardens will be announced during the Tulip Festival Committee. Winning gardens will be announced during the Tulip Festival celebration Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 29. Winners will receive (a certificate of commendation from the Chamber of Commerce in honor of their tulip gardens. To be sure the judges view a speical tulip garden, contact the Chamber of Commerce at 884-5506 or P.O. Box 109, Cape May 06204, with the address of the garden, by April 20.
