SEA ISLE CITY - With the new season about to start, the City has reported the final 1983-Mfistuog contest results for the island. Sponsored by the city and run by Cliff Vansant, the competition has nine categories. Largest fish was a 106-pound Mako -shark, taken by George Sani, of 60S Raikes Road, Huntington Valley, PA. Prizes were awarded by the city .in all categories. Out of the several thousand fishes entered at local weigh stations, the following were declared winners: Blue Fish -7 1, Jeremy Bloch, Tenafly, (20 lbs. 2 oz.); 2, Joe Ruf, Vineland. (15 lbs. 9 oz.); 3. Bud Tyson, Collegeville, PA, (15 lbs. 6 oz.). Flounder — 1, Greg Gaglianone, Clayton, (11 lbs. 8w£); 2, Sam Zieminski, Philadelphia. PA, (10 lbs. 8 oz.); 3, Tony DePaula, Hamilton Square, (8lbs. 4oz.).

CAPE MAY - J.T. Builders put their unblemished 3-0 record on the line as they took on Seashore Stinger in Coed Recreational volleyball action. In the first game it was all J.T. Builders as the serving of Rich Simpson and Marion I.amach propelled J.T. to a 12-0 lead. Seashore put up a bhef stand behind the spikes of Bruce Peterson. but it was all in vain as J.T. Builders prevailed 15-4. The Builders, continued to rollin game two as Linda Thomas served for six consecutive points. J.T. took a comfortable 5-0 lead. and never looked back as it cruised to the victory 15-4. Game three was by far the best of the-match as both teams battled for each point. With J.T. Builders ahead by one point, Seashore failed to return seven consecutive senes by Matt Reidenbach as J.T. Builders took a big 12-4 lead. Fine net coverage by Seashore’s Bruce Peterson brought the score to 12-5 before J.T.’s Tami Thomas took it to game point at 14-5. Seashore regained service and Pat McCrooe accumulated four quick points before J.T. wrapped up game three 15-9. Sona t Offshore Drilling Co. took on Pete's Racquet Chitlin the second pairing. Sonat took a 9-5 lead over Pete’s in game on with consistent serving. Pete’s Greg Lacurta served for four consecutive points to tie it up at 9-9. Sonat’s Paul King then took over the game with his pinpoint serving and wrapped up the victory 15-9. j Pete’s took the ferly lead in game two 10-5. Sonat then put its offense together and took over the lead 11-10. Pete’s recovered and took the game to game point 14-11 behind the serves of Debbie Lacurta. Sonat then stiffened its defense and won the game 16-14 behind the serving of Eleanor Sim. In game three Pete’s never gained control of its
defense as Sohat’s Paul King served for 11 consecutive points and took an easy 15-4 win. Buck's Electrofiers and Seashore Stiger hooked up in the finale. The first game was nip and tuck in the early going until Sea- * shore broke out to a fourpoint lead at 11-7. Buck's came storming back to 13-11 behind six ptfaight points on serve by Patty Komar. Seasho're tied things up at 13-13 before Bucjrs^xagained service and sank two deep volleys to take game one 15-13. Game two was again neck and neck until Buck’s broke a 9-9 tie to take a 12-0 lead. Seashore came back and tied the game again, this time at 12-12. Buck's regained service and took it to game point (14-12), before its defense broke down and Seashore stormed back to win 16-14. Buck's took a big 12-1 lead in game three and never looked back as it demolished Seashore 15-4.
Volunteers Pull Upset
CAPE MAY - The C View needqd two-third period goals by Todd Shot Her to down an upsetminded Kdtie News team 3-1. Bill Ax els son netted the other goal for the C-View as Keltic's Steve Watson netted its only goal. , The Cape May Volunteer Fire Company pulled the upset of the season as Stlg Bk>ntk vest netted two goals to lead his team tea 4-1 victory over Dellas. Charlie Hickman and Jim Hawthorne backed up Blomkvest with a goal apiece. Veteran John “Shaky” Walters in his farewell appearance scored the lone goal for Dellas.
