Plant Sets A Record

PLEASANTVILLE ^ Record output by Atlantic Electric’s coal-rireB generating stations saved its customers an estimated $65 million in fuel costs during 1983, the company an nounced today. The company’s B.L. England generating fetation in Beesley's Point set an all-time output record of 2.86 billion kilowatt hours in 1983 The previous high of 2.74 billion ^kilowatt hours was set in 1977. The record output, which provided 44 percent of the

utility customer requirements for the year, came during the station's first lull year of operation following an extensive boiler rehabilitation program conducted in 1981 and 1982. The record generation also helped to reduce the company's dependence pn foreign oil:-Coal produced 62 percent of the electricity used in 1983 compared to 18 percent in 1973. By comparison. oil provided 21 percent of'the electricity used in 1983 compand to 64 percent in 1972.
