Fire Co. Marks 57 Years
• ’ RIO GRANDE - The Rio ’ 5 rande Fire Company held a dinner-dance Saturday, March 24, at its fire hall ttf celebrate its 57th anni versa n, The Evening began with a buffet dinner which was enjoyed by HO persons. After the dinner. Gan Rudy introduced president Roy Hess, Fire Chief Ralph Porch, and Auxiliary President Carol-Porch, who introduced their officers for 1964. The other elected executive officers, Joseph Mattera, vice president; Richard |Cr»wn. secretary; Merritt E. Hoffert. Treasurer’; and John Bartleson, Jr.. Fred Myers, and Phil Zimmer* man, trustees. THE OTHER LINE officers are Larry Forsyth.
Boro Set To Employ Over-55
AVALON — Borough Administrator Andrew Bed narek annouced that effective March 15, Avalon was named as a host community under the Green Thumb Program of the Federal Department of Labor. • The agreement was made with the borough bySteven J. Cesar, Cape May County supervisor, and Joseph Larkin, the local representative of the Department of Labor. This program is to help "older Americans" over 55 in permanent employment. In the case of Avalon it will allow the hiring of a clerk typist, an account clerk and a maintenance construction woricer. THOSE INTERESTED should see Jane Stapleton of the Borough's Public Assistance board. The salary will be $3.55 per hour for five hours a day, five days per week. Individuals applying must be over 55 with an income of $6,075 (family of one) or $8,175 (family of two) and each subsequent family member $2,000 more. This income is exclusive of Social Security, disability pension or aid to dependent children This 18-year-old program is aimed at helping older Americans help themselves through a work program.
Henley Back In California
COURT HOUSE - Air Force Airman 1st Class Harry L. Henley, son of C. Delores V. Henley of 4 Ella Ave., has arrived for duty at Mather Air Force Base, Calif. Henley, a material facilities specialist with the 323rd Supply Squadron, was previously assigned at Clark Air Base, Philippines. He is a 1981 graduate of Middle Township Hieh School.

Lomax To Be Club Speaker
STONE HARBOR - Joseph Lomax, president of Joseph Lomax and Associates, environmental consultants, will be the speaker at the meeting - April 9 of the Stone Harbor Garden Club. Lomax, a resident of Court House, is well known as the immediate past president of the Board of Trustees of the Wetlands Ipstitute. His tonic will be "An Icelandic Adventure", accompanied by slides taken on a recent trip to Iceland. The meeting is at 10 a m in the Firehouse Refreshments will be served.
