CAPE MAY - Up and coming Buck's Etectrofiers took on a slumping Pete's Racquet Club team in the first match of recent action. In the first game Pete’s played Buck's nip and tuck in the early going and gained an &-7 advantage. At that point Buck’s Tom Jackson took over the game and served for eight consecutive points to win 15-8 V Buck’s took a 10-6 lead in the second game behind some prktty bumps by Patty Komar. Pete’s came back with three quick points to narrow Buck’s lead to one point at KMJ. Buck’s then lost service -and Pete's Roy Smith took advantage of that fact to scor? six quick points on

Pete's came right back with six quick points thanks to the fine net play of Judy Rice® to narrow the score to 8-6. piled an early 5-1 lead. JTs came right back and took over the lead 8-5, highlighted by a great dig by June Keidenbach. J.T’s never again relinquished the lead as it went on to win 15-10 Game two was again nip and tuck throughout as neither team could manage to pull away. J.T.’s prevailed in the end 15-11 behind the excellent net play of Mark Rucci and John Thomas. The final game was a heartbreaker for the Shire as it took a seemingly insurmountable 12-1 lead on- ’ ly to see it evaporate quickly behind 13 straight points on serve by Marion Lamach as J.T.’s took a 14-12 lead. The Shire tied things up at 14-14 but J.T.’s regained service and went on to win 16-14. Sonat Offshore Drilling Co. took on the Cape MayLewes Ferry in the finale.

Sonat completely controlled game one with some nice ■ court coverage by Rocky Gist and Paul King to win handily 15-5. Game two was much closer as the Ferry took the early lead 10-6. Sonat came back to tie things up at 10-10. The Ferry regained service but could manage oqly one point as it took the lead 11-10. Sonat then used dependable serves to take the lead 14-11. The Ferry mustered only two more points as Sonat went on to win 15-13. Sonat started game three with a 9-5 lead. The Ferry came on strong with a great save by Liada Douglas and bumps by Charles Futcber as it took over the lead 12-9. Sonat came back with two points but the Ferry regained service and made it to game point (14-11) before Sonat shut it down And went on to win 16-14.

CAPE MAY - Seashore Stinger look on Marine National Bank in the first match in Recreational Volleyball action the week of March 26. Marine took •the lead in game one 9-0 with nine consecutive serves by Jerry Reeves Seashore failed to get its team together as Marine held the lead throughout, winning easily 15-5. Seashore also was in complete command in game two as it allowed Marine only one point throughout the game. Seashore’s Beth Churchill and Toni Remeuter dominated the game with their serves as Seashore destroyed Marine 15-1. Marine turned the tables on Seashore as it took a big 11-3 lead in game three behind eight consecutive points on serve by Sharon Weeks. Nice bumps by Marine's Steve Kosyle kept Marine in control of the ball and the game as it held _-Ofrto win 15-13. Undefeated J.T. Builders

SCUBA Course

CAPE MAY - The city’s SCUBA course is scheduled to begin again April 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cape MayElementary School. The course will include 32 hours of instruction and is nationally certified. Builders completelydominated game two with great saves by Linda Thomas as J.T.’s won handily 15i6/The Ferry took the lead in game three 8-4 with excellent bumps by Dave Chapman. The Ferry couldn't hold it, however as J.T.’s took control of the game at that point and won 15-11. in the final match of the evening Sonat Offshore Drilling took on Marine National Bank. Sonat took a 9-3 lead over Marine in game ope with good net coverage supplied by Robert Merrman and John Franklin. Marine Bank then came on strong behind the serving of Skippy Fletcher as it won the game 15-9. Sonat completelydominated game two, allowing Marine just four points as Sonat won handily, 15-4. Sonat controlled game three as well with excellentteam work by Rocky Gist and Paul King. Despite two fine spikes by Marine's Nancy Alexander Sonat held on to win 15-5.
