Upper Library Artists Picked

PETERSBURG -Three South Jersey artists have been commissioned to create permanent works of art for the Upper Township Library scheduled for construction this spring. Capte May County Freeholders agreed last year that 1 to 14 percent of the money spent on new county buildings may go for art. This library, with bids due to be opened May 1. is estimated to cost $700,000.

The art projects commissioned total almost $10,000. Artists selected irom four finalists include:

Jude Burkhauser of North Cape May. former director of the Cape-May County Art League, will weave three tapestries with a design based on the ' Walum Olum,” recorded histories of the Lenni Lenapi Indians of New

Jersey.
